Tyrese Maxey ruled out for Sixers-Hawks on Sunday; Joel Embiid still questionable

Five hours and change before they tip off against the Hawks in Atlanta, the Sixers ruled out star guard Tyrese Maxey due to an illness. Maxey, who missed his first game of the season on Friday after becoming sick, was initially listed as doubtful to suit up in Atlanta.

Meanwhile, Joel Embiid (left knee injury management) remains questionable. If Embiid does play, it will be the first time all season he has done so twice in a three-day span. Part of the plan to manage Embiid's knee so far has been padding his game appearances with multiple off days, but with four-day layoffs before and after this stretch of two games in three nights, perhaps the Sixers view this as the right time to see if Embiid can handle an intensified workload.
