Paul George out for Sixers-Pistons on Friday, Joel Embiid remains uncertain

CAMDEN, N.J. — Paul George (left knee surgery recovery) will remain out when the Sixers visit the Detroit Pistons in NBA Cup Group Play action on Friday, the team said, while Joel Embiid’s status remains uncertain.

After Tuesday night's dramatic win over the Boston Celtics, the Sixers said that George was focused on the "continued strengthening of his left quadricep" and would be re-evaluated later this week as he continues working through "the final stage of his return to play plan."

Minutes later, Sixers head coach Nick Nurse said that Embiid – who had missed the game with right knee soreness – was day-to-day and did not have any structural damage. (Embiid's left knee is the one that has caused significant issues in recent years.)
