Giving birth to twins increases heart disease risk during postpartum period, study warns

Mothers of twins are twice as likely to be readmitted to the hospital for heart disease in the first year after giving birth compared to mothers of singletons, new research shows. Cardiovascular disease is one of the primary causes of maternal mortality in the first year after giving birth.
