CAMDEN, NJ – Sixers center Joel Embiid is set to receive another evaluation on Sunday for his sinus fracture, head coach Nick Nurse said after the team's morning practice.

Embiid suffered the fracture during the Sixers' Friday night loss to the Indiana Pacers at the Wells Fargo Center.

Nurse said that Embiid hasn't been ruled out for the team's road contest against the Charlotte Hornets on Monday night. The Sixers need to gather more information from the forthcoming evaluation before making any decision.

Asked if Embiid would need to wear a mask upon returning to action to protect himself from a more significant injury, Nurse said that was still unclear to the team before saying it was "50/50" whether or not a mask would be required. Embiid has worn a mask immediately after returning from the two prior facial fractures he has suffered in his NBA career, and did not appear to enjoy the experience either time:

After Monday's game, the Sixers have three days off, then face the Hornets again at home on Friday night before traveling to Cleveland for a Saturday night game against the Cavaliers. Embiid would likely only play in one of those two games if he can play through his sinus fracture. The Sixers don't appear to be planning to use the former NBA MVP in both legs of any back-to-backs for the foreseeable future.
