As expected, Joel Embiid (left knee injury management) will be sidelined for the Sixers on Wednesday night in the second leg of the team's back-to-back. But there could be reinforcements coming elsewhere. Here is the team's entire injury report, released Wednesday afternoon:
Player | Injury | Status |
Joel Embiid | left knee injury management | OUT |
Paul George | left finger extensor tendon strain | DOUBTFUL |
Quentin Grimes | trade pending | QUESTIONABLE |
Eric Gordon | left knee soreness | QUESTIONABLE |
Kyle Lowry | right hip soreness | QUESTIONABLE |
Andre Drummond | left toe injury recovery | DOUBTFUL |
KJ Martin | trade pending | OUT |
Jared McCain | left knee meniscus surgery | OUT |
George suffered the injury to his left pinky finger in the second quarter of the Sixers' Jan. 25 win over the Chicago Bulls. He missed the remainder of that game and each of the team's five contests since then, despite head coach Nick Nurse indicating that the team did not expect an extended absence.
A doubtful designation is far away from an official return, but it is at least a sign than the nine-time All-Star is inching closer to suiting up.
Meanwhile, the newly acquired Quentin Grimes is already in town and was greeting some of his new teammates before and after their thrilling win over his former teammates, the Dallas Mavericks, but appears to be in somewhat of a state of limbo as things stand in the afternoon. Grimes is healthy and appears ready to play whenever physicals have been passed.
