The well-known and loved story of Betsy Ross sewing the first Stars &
Stripes is tightly woven into the colorful fabric of America’s rich history.
The Betsy Ross House, the birthplace of the American flag, is alive with the
sights and sounds of the 18th century. Tour the House and then stay a while
longer to meet Betsy in her upholstery shop and learn more about her
fascinating life and times through our interactive, historical programming.

First Friday Movie Night: Night of the
Living Dead
Enjoy the classic horror favorite, Night of the Living Dead, under
the Stars & Stripes in the Betsy Ross House Courtyard. Your ticket also
includes a tour of the House! Bring a bite and your favorite bottle of wine
and enjoy an al fresco night. Forgot your libation? Don’t worry – Art in the
Age distillery out of Ambler, PA, will be in the Courtyard selling specialty
cocktails with their Graverobber Rye!

Meet the Women of the 18th Century
For much less frightening fun, check out Meet the Women of the 18th Century
after you tour the Betsy Ross House, Saturdays in October. Meet women from
1700s Philadelphia, including chocolate and mustard maker Mary Crathorne,
socialite Peggy Chew, cake baker Margaret Woodby, and Susanna Cook, a
washerwoman. After you hear their stories and ask them about their lives,
try your hand at their trades!
