Two human bones were found washed up at Penn Treaty Park in Fishtown on Sunday, investigators said.
A femur and a tibia, the upper and lower leg bones, were found along the shoreline of the Delaware River. A pedestrian called police just after 5 p.m. and said they saw what appeared to be human remains at the park, which is located at the 1300 block of Beach Street. Police and the medical examiner confirmed the theory after arriving on the scene.

The bones appear to be from an adult, Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace told NBC10. They were taken to the Medical Examiner's Office. No clothing was found nearby.
At this point, officials know very little about the finding. The sex, race and exact age of the person are all unclear at present, and investigators have not yet determined how the person ended up in the river. However, it's believed that they were dead "for some time" according to Pace.
"It’s unclear whether or not there was a criminal incident that precipitated this," Pace told the outlet. "So at this point now it’s just a matter of conducting a forensic examination and trying to determine who these bones might belong to."
Anyone with information has been asked to contact Philadelphia Police as they continue to investigate to identify the remains.
